In what has turned out to be a great week for animated trailers, Sony Pictures drops us into the Spider-Verse with the first full-length official trailer for this December’s “Spider-Man” feature. We’ve previously reported on this film as Miles Morales-centric, but this trailer reveals so much. Spoilers in the trailer and below:

We meet Miles Morales with his father, Jefferson, a city police officer with a big — if also embarrassing — heart for his son.

When Morales meets up with the original Spider-Man, an older but not necessarily mature Peter Parker, he discovers his own destiny as the web-slinging hero and the “limitless possibilities of the Spider-Verse,” including the existence of Spider-Gwen / Gwen Stacy.

Lego Movie directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are producers of the film, which includes a voice cast of Shameik Moore (Miles Morales), Jake Johnson (Parker), Liev Schreiber (Kingpin), Hailee Steinfeld (Spider-Gwen), Brian Tyree Henry (Jefferson Morales), Luna Lauren Velez (Rio Morales) and Lily Tomlin (Aunt May).

“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” reaches theaters on December 25, 2018.
